in Nature & Inspiration

Simple living means being able to take the time to slow down, appreciate the little things and reconnect with nature. Perhaps if we pay a bit more attention to the wonders that are all around us, we’ll be more inclined to cherish and protect them. Scroll below the photo to learn more about the subject. Enjoy!

Sometimes referred to as “slate-colored” juncos, these adorable little sparrows resemble birds from a Disney animation. They’re plump and slate gray on top, with a white belly that looks like it was dipped in paint. Dark-eyed juncos (Junco hyemalis) are a common feeder bird – especially in winter – where they spend most of their time on the ground, looking for dropped seeds. Juncos are less common here in central New York in the summer as many of them fly north to breed – although some live here year round.
